4 Oil Painting Techniques on ZOOM

This workshop will be led by Quin Stone, Artist and PAFA Alumni, who recently taught our Landscape and Flower Painting Workshops. Join us and learn the painting techniques developed over the years by the Masters. Understand how they created the beautiful effects in their famous paintings. We'll work from a simple still life arrangement and you will have the choice of creating 4 small paintings or one larger canvas sectioned into 4 spaces.
LEARN THESE TECHNIQUES:
ALLA PRIMA: Wet-on-wet, or alla prima (Italian, meaning at first attempt), is a painting technique in which layers of wet paint are applied to previously administered layers of wet paint.
POINTILLISM: Also called divisionism and chromo-luminarism, in painting it is the practice of applying small strokes or dots of colour to a surface so that from a distance they visually blend together.
PALETTE KNIFE: This technique bypasses traditional paintbrushes and embraces palette knives, which come in different shapes and sizes, to apply flat strokes of paint and thicker swaths, or an impasto effect, to create an impressionistic image.
GLAZE: The glazing technique involves creating a monochromatic painting in shades of gray and over-painting it with colors to create a toned down or muted color image.
SUPPLIES YOU WILL NEED:
1-large canvas or 4 small ones
A variety of oil paint colors including black and white
A palette knife (or a few different shaped ones)
Mineral spirits or turpentine and paper towels for clean up
